9th June 2010
Dear Parents,
Following the success of our last trip to France, the MFL Department is organising another school trip to Paris. It is planned for 22nd to 29th June. The flights have not been booked yet as we need to confirm student numbers first. We are planning to take a maximum of 30 pupils, who will be well supervised by the accompanying staff : Miss Coates, Mrs Horton and Mr Charef along with the 2 ITS guides who will be staying ot our hotel and with us 24/7!
Please check the link provided below for additional information on the Ibis hotel and also find attached the programme for our daily visits. We need to have an answer whether you would like your son or daughter to participate as soon as possible as booking will run on a first come first served basis. All you need to do is to fill in the attached form and pay a 500 dhs non refundable deposit (in cash) to the school accountant who will then issue you a receipt which guarantees a place for your child.
The total price for the trip will be 7800 dhs and it includes everything except lunch and souvenirs. Breakfast and dinner will be provided.
I will be asking you for two more installments of 3650 dhs each in cash. One on the 16th of November and the second one on the 16th of February 2011.
Please do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.
Kind Regards
Mr Charef.

The programme for the stay is organised by the reputed International Travels for schools (ITS) and stands as follows:
DAY 1:
Pickup from Charles de Gaulle Airport and meet with LEI staff. Brief overview of the programme for the week and drop-off of our luggage at our hotel. We will then have our first experience with the Parisian metro to Notre-Dame Cathedral. This wonderful Gothic masterpiece, famous after Victor Hugos novel, is a highlight, even if Quasimodo doesnt appear. The Rose Window is magnificent. We will then go by metro to a city centre restaurant for an early dinner, before we head on to our hotel for check-in.DAY 2:
After breakfast, we will travel to the Chteau de Versailles, an amazing castle nearby Paris. This former royal palace is stunning and the gardens are equally magnificent. After having lunch on the site, we will take the metro to go and visit the Louvre Museum; all the favourites are here Mona Lisa and the great Masters. We recommend that you hire an audio guide in order that you choose which exhibits you want to learn about. Lunch will be in the Louvre foodcourt (over 20 outlets). Finally, we will walk through the Jardin des Tuileries up to Place de la Concorde, before we have dinner in town and then head back to our hotel by metro.DAY 3:
After breakfast we will visit Le Muse des Egouts de Paris, where youll understand the evolution of Paris. Afterwards, we will take the metro and go for lunch, before we can see Paris Story, a 45-minute presentation on the history of the City of Lights. We will then see the famous Opra Garnier and enter the Gallery Lafayette (a historic building converted into a cutting-edge fashion mall), getting a skyline view from its roof. Lunch will be at our leisure and dinner will be in a restaurant close to our hotel.DAY 4:
After breakfast we will take the metro to see Paris most famous attraction, the Eiffel Tower. We climb to the top (by stairs and lift) and have lunch at the cafeteria in the Tower. The views are sensational. After lunch, we will descend to street level and enjoy a Boat Cruise along the Seine River. Later in the afternoon you will have visit the DOrsay Museum famous for its impressionist works. Dinner in the city.DAY 5:
Today, we will catch the train to EuroDisney after breakfast. We will spend a whole day by enjoying the famous rides and special attractions of the amusement park. Space Mountain is always a favourite and we recommend that you make use of the Fast Pass system to help avoid the queues for the popular rides. Lunch will be inside the park and we will then return to Paris by train and metro.DAY 6:
We will spend the morning visiting the Montmartre District, using the stairs up to the Basilique du Sacr Coeur. After having lunch at a typical old Parisian cafe, Place du Tertre, we will take time to shop for last minute souvenirs in this Bohemian area before going to the famous Champs-lyses. In the evening, we will have dinner nearby at the New Jet Set Restaurant. At dusk we will ascend the Arc de Triomphe for one of the finest night views of Paris. We will then return to the hotel completely tired, but full of images proving that Paris truly is the City of Lights.DAY 7
Check out of your hotel. Today optional visit of Saint-Germains des Prs area and/ or Latin area. Depending on flight schedule. Transfer to the airport for your flight home.
Memories of our first Paris trip ( March-April 2009)
DBS Paris Trip April 2009.
Our first metro experience was amazing. It was really well organised as we had 9 people in each group. It was fun being with all my friends from school whizzing under Paris in the metro.
Emily Playford 9D
The first night in Paris was very, very cold! Most of us were shivering but it was a nice change to Dubai weather. The breakfast the next morning was delicious; there were scrambled eggs, sausages, croissants, pain au chocolat, French bread and cheeses with some hot chocolate to warm us up before a cold day.
Lea Grujic 8D
The Galleries Lafayette was magnificent; it had everything from food to swimsuits to bendy pencils. It also had a wonderful rooftop view of Paris that we all enjoyed.
Nourham Mansoor 9D
On our second day we visited the Rex Cinema; the largest cinema in Europe. We took a guided tour which told us lots of facts and we learnt how you make a movie. We made a film of us on a ship and recorded our voices whilst screaming at King Kong. It was a fantastic experience and one not to be missed.
Kireran Jappy 9B.
On a cold and windy morning in Paris we strolled to the Eiffel Tower, very eager to travel to the top. As we lined up for the lift the excitement was overwhelming! We needed to stop halfway to change lifts and as we got higher the views of Paris became more magnificent! Finally we reached the top and stepped outside. The view of Paris was simply breath-taking!
Sarah Najjar 9D
At the Eiffel Tower it was amazing! Thank goodness we took the lift to the top! At the top there were some maps to help us find the Sacre Cur and Louvre museum. I got a bit scared and had to make myself get over it. We went to the restaurant and souvenir shop where we could buy fans.
Emma Strang. 7D
At the Sacre Cur we went shopping, had our portraits drawn ate crepes and shopped. The church on a hill overlooking Paris was beautiful. Berets were compulsory!
Brittany Flower 7S
At Euro Disney the first ride we went on was Thunder Mountain. It was a bit scary but we liked it. After that we went on Space Mountain! It was amazing!! There were stars and planets everywhere. We all got excited and went on it twice more! After the rides we were exhausted so we went on calmer rides and into the castle to take pictures before the Micky Mouse Parade!
Mariam Madwar 7B
Once a palace to the Kings and Queens of France, The Louvre is now the most respected art gallery in the world, including works of art such as the world-famous Mona Lisa by Leonardo Di Vinci. For me it was a great privilege to be able to view at first hand its mesmerizing artwork and statues. My favourite was the Venus Di Milo which is the famous armless statue of the Roman goddess Venus. I am but one of the privileged few to witness her beauty.
Omid Faramazi 9S
Versailles was built to home King Louis XIV and his wife Marie-Antoinette. The palace is richly furnished with luxurious family portraits, painted ceilings and gold-plated lamps. In the castle there are 700 rooms to visit containing 100 windows to look out upon the beautiful gardens full of fountains and statues. It was fascinating because you could stand in the very room Marie Antoinette did!
Lotte Muller 9B
I really enjoyed looking at all the modern and abstract art in the Centre Georges Pompidou. I enjoyed it because of the wide range of art and the optical illusions.
